Having survived a no motion confidence last year, Malaysian Hockey Confederation Umpires Committee Chairman B. Muthukumar tendered his resignation on a surprise move.

There had been talk of his impending resignation since last week, but this was confirmed by MHC Secretary General Mohd Johari Abdul Aziz at the National Hockey Stadium today after the dialogue session with teams participating the next year's Malaysian Hockey League and Malaysian Junior Hockey League.

"I can confirm that he has submitted his resignation as the Chairman. I received a copy of the email which was sent to the MHC President," said Johari.

"Whether the resignation is accepted or not is something for the President to decide and I am not able to comment about it."

A motion of no confidence was moved by 12 state chairman last year but MHC President Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah intervened and it was then decided that Muthukumar carry on. However the turmoils continued and this led to his sudden resignation.
