In a fitting tribute to the late Chua Boon Huat, the Malaysian Hockey Confederation Competitions Committee will propose that the Most Promising Player Award for the MHC-MILO-NSC Junior Hockey League be named after the player.

The proposal was brought up during a dialogue session between MHC and the teams participating in the MHL and MJHL and it was unanimously agreed by all present, in appreciation of Chua's contribution to Malaysian Hockey.

Chua was first spotted in the MJHL in 1995 when representing Yayasan NS and went on to play for three seasons before making his mark in the MHL and moving onto the national senior team rank after being given a break by former national coach Paul Lissek.

"It is a good proposal and we will table ot to the MHC Management Committee to seek their approval. It is only appropriate that we recognise his contribution and such an award will spur the youngsters," said MHC secretary General Mohd Johari Abdul Aziz.

Chua, who was 33 died in a road accident on August 1. He represented the nation in 337 international matches in a career spanning over 15 years, having made his debut at the 1998 Commonwealth Games.
