Selangor made the final of the National Under 21 Tournament after 21 years by defeating Penang 4-2 in the semi finals at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

They will take on Perak who upset Kuala Lumpur 3-2 in the other semis.

What is more remarkable about Selangor's feat is that they achieved it without having an artificial pitch and have been relying on pitches in Kuala Lumpur to run their domestic leagues as well as training on these pitches in preparation for national tournaments.

The last time Selangor made the final was in 1992, skippered by Maninderjit Sing who led the state to a 4-1 win over Malacca. A year before Selangor defeated Peral for the title.

The final will be played at the National Stadium at 6pm on Thirsday.
